Bedoukian Research was founded in 1972 by Dr. Paul Bedoukian. Prior to establishing his own business, Dr. Bedoukian had worked in the Flavor and Fragrance Industry for 25 years as Technical Director, Perfumer, and Consultant. He has written 50 Annual Reviews of the industry for Perfumer and Flavorist magazine and has authored the book Perfumery and Flavoring Synthetics.
Paul Bedoukian founded the company to fill a niche as a supplier of high quality specialty aroma and flavor ingredients. In 1975 the company began manufacturing insect pheromones which are chemically similar to flavor and fragrance ingredients. Today, Bedoukian Research offers more than 450 Aroma Chemicals and 50 Insect Pheromones, while also providing custom manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and specialty chemical industries.
Paul Bedoukian's son, Dr. Robert Bedoukian, joined the company in 1975. Under his leadership, Bedoukian Research has enhanced its reputation in the Flavor and Fragrance and Insect Pheromone industries for superior quality products, excellent customer service, and availability of technical expertise.
Dr. Robert Bedoukian is currently serving on the board of directors of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), Fragrance Materials Association (FMA), and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). Additionally, he serves on the FMA Scientific Affairs Committee and the Purdue University Chemistry Departmental Advisory Committee. He is a past chairman of the board of directors at RIFM and formerly served on the IFRA Executive Committee (now FRIEC).
